Fundamentals of Surface Discontinuities

There are numerous types of welding defects, such as cracks, porosity, lack of fusion, and slag inclusions. This article will review the types, typical causes, and solutions of surface discontinuities. From a technical point of view, surface discontinuities should not be considered as porosity. We will discuss, in depth, common surface defects such as gas/worm tracking and pock marking.
